The average computer user these days can perform many repairs on their own computers, things like installing a cd-rom drive, or a video card. Computers have become so user friendly most can even configure just about any type of expansion cards. These are simple things most computer users can perform without the help of a certified computer technician. Though, there are other things that should be left to the professionals so as not to find themselves way over their head.

Some repairs can be classified as beginner level while others are categorized as more advanced. Things like installing a card on an expansion slot are considered beginner level. Then you have what I call intermediate which would include the installation of a hard drive or the operating system. With so many advances in now’s computer operating systems what used to be a highly technical procedure is now an simple task for the average computer user.

So what should and shouldn’t  a computer beginner attempt? Well, replacing a mother board for occasion should be left to a more skilled qualified. Replacing a mother board generally happens when you want to upgrade your system for better performance or some of your cards start to malfunctions such as the case with video or sound cards.

Another repair I would deliberate leave-compelling to a qualified would be software based configurations such is the case with a virus removal application. Yes, you can go out and buy virus protection software at your local computer outlet but be aware that removing viruses can impede your systems usability if you remove the incorrect files from your computer.  Only a trained qualified will know what to keep and what to discard from your system.

Now if you don’t have any concerns over what data is on your computer’s hard drive then you could simply perform a system format which would render any configuration problems or virus activity nonexistent. You would in essence start out with a new computer having removed the corrupted files from your computer. This of course is the most extreme method and most people have vital files which they would rather not loose. In this case the qualified computer repair tech could not only have your computer running back to normal but save your vital data as well.
